Despite the apparent homogenous and tranquil population of the Issaquah Valley today, the area has been the scene of at least three major ethnic clashes over the past 120 years.

It seems ironic that the same month and year Abe Lincoln was winning reelection as well as the war against the South, that a Southerner who settled in Squak Valley (Issaquah) should be the loser in the first skirmish between Indian and non-Indian. (more…)
