The Maple Valley Fire District 43 will ask for community financial support of $277,985 on May 7th.

Voters will determine whether the largely volunteer service may replace worn equipment, replenish aid materials, keep the insurance coverage, and assure the community of 24-hour fire department response by adding one or two full-time paid firemen to the stations.

The levy, says Chief Jim Daoust, will amount to approximately $20 of tax money on a $10,000 home and $60 on a $30,000 dwelling. This is about $2 for each $1,000 of real property assessed valuation. The tax request will be collected in one year but its use will be spread out over a three-year span, explained the chief. (more…)
