Black Diamond Councilmembers recently approved an Interlocal Agreement with Mountain View Fire & Rescue for fire and emergency medical services. (L-R) Chief Greg Smith, Commissioner Jim Farrel congratulating Mayor Howard Botts, and IFC Steve Marstrom.

While the City of Black Diamond was in hunt for a new fire chief, Interim Fire Chief (IFC) Steve Marstrom made an inquiry of city officials as to whether they had considered any other possibilities aside from hiring a new chief. Although Mayor Howard Botts and the council had not considered any other options, they indicated they were open to more information. (more…)

Visitors who open up Destination Washington, the slick state tourism publication issued in time for summer’s Goodwill Games, will quickly find themselves eyeing a glossy photo of the Black Diamond Dinner House, one of a dozen dining spots featured in the “On the Town” guide to distinctive Northwest cuisine.

It’s a new role for the historic landmark.

The white clapboard building was built at the turn of the century, and used first as a feed store, according to new owner George Donahue, who purchased the restaurant in August. (more…)
