Black Diamond might get its first traffic light with state funds targeted to make busy intersection more safe

BLACK DIAMOND — Kids, highways, and heavy truck traffic don’t mix.
Add in a pet dog running out into the street or a youngster in a hurry because he is late for school, and the Baker Street/Highway 169 intersection can become a setting for tragedy.
But an official with the state Department of Transportation, which has authority over improvements to the highway, had good news for this community Wednesday: a $77,000 intersection improvement project for Baker Street will be included in the DOT’s 1997-99 budget. (more…)
