First steps were taken last week toward forming a Miners’ Baseball League to be made up of teams representing the mines of The Pacific Coast Coal Company, and probably those of Wilkeson and Carbonado.
Although Black Diamond is the only Pacific Coast Coal Company camp with a suitable field on which to play at present, it seems evident from the preparations made that the others are determined to overcome existing obstacles, with a view to establishing their prowess in the national sport.
A really impressive list of men available for the teams of the various camps is being prepared, and with normal working conditions, and favorable weather approaching, it is predicted that an aggregation of players will be organized that will not only compare favorably with some listed in the professional class, but be an honor to the Pacific Coast.
